Pierre-André de Chalendar

Pierre-André de Chalendar born April 2, 1958 in Vichy (France), is a French entrepreneur.

He is Chairman and CEO ^[1] of Saint-Gobain Group since June 3, 2010 and CEO ^[2] since June 2007.

Formation

• Graduated from ESSEC business school in 1979

• Graduate of the École Nationale d'Administration (ENA) in 1983 (promotion Solidarity)

Career

Pierre-André de Chalendar began his career at the General Inspection of Finance (IGF) from 1983 to 1987. Financial Inspector (1984). Project manager (1987–88) then Deputy Director (1988–89) in the General Directorate for Energy and raw materials of the Ministry of Industry and Energy.

October 1, 1989, Pierre-André de Chalendar joined Compagnie de Saint-Gobain as Vice-President Corporate Planning. He was successively:

• Vice-President, Corporate Planning (1989–92)
• Corporate Vice President of Saint-Gobain Corp. (USA) and Managing Director of Norton Abrasives Europe (1992–96)
• President of the worldwide Abrasives Division and Chairman and CEO of Norton SA (1996–2000)
• General Delegate for the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland and Chief Executive of Meyer International (2000–03)
• Senior Vice-President of Compagnie de Saint-Gobain in charge of the Building Distribution Sector (2003–05)
• Chairman of BPB (2005)
• Chief Operating Officer (2005–07), Director (2006) and CEO (since 2007) of Compagnie de Saint-Gobain.

Pierre-André de Chalendar has been appointed by the Board of Directors of Compagnie de Saint-Gobain Chairman and CEO of Compagnie de Saint-Gobain on June 3, 2010, after the General Meeting of shareholders.
